Southern street
The Cotton Belt |
The Cotton Belt takes riders on an exciting downfall of twists and turns much like the cotton industry in the south. Riders will sit in a roller coaster car and be launched 80 mph through a dark tunnel and out in to the sunlight where they will race around turns and circles. The actual cotton gin, gin being short for engine, removes seeds from short staple cotton. An inventor of the time, Eli Whitney, decided that hand-removing the seeds just would not do, and so he decided to make a machine to increase cotton production. The machine was a hand-cranked cylinder to pull cotton fibers from the seeds and it revolutionized cotton picking. It's A Small, Small Farm | This ride takes park-goers on a relaxing boat ride as they listen to authentic folk tales and spirituals told by slaves during the 1800s. Folktales are stories with a moral and spirituals are emotional Christian songs that blend African and European music together. In this way, riders will get to relax a little bit from the other areas of the park and learn some history about the south as well. |
