Technology Twister
Textile Tosser |
This roller coaster takes riders up and around many twists and turns just like the looms used to make textiles during the first Industrial Revolution. At the beginning of the 1700s, a lot of people in Europe and America were farmers. They made everything that they could ever need by hand. Making clothes by hand used to be really hard and was a long process. The textile industry was the industry that really set off the Industrial Revolution. In 1769, Richard Arkwright invented the water frame to increase textile production. Water Frame | This glorified ferris wheel is a more laid-back ride that allows riders to relax while spinning in a slow, continuous circle. Richard Arkwright invented the water frame in 1769. It could produce dozens of cotton threads at a time and revolutionized the textile industry. The water frame used flowing water as its power, and as a result, bigger factories were built next to rivers. Thanks to the water frame, Britain was the leading producer of textiles in the 1700s. |
